Golden arm bracelet (a thin gold sheet is curled and formed, five tile ribs are hammered on it, and there are rope patterns woven by gold threads between the tile ribs). The decoration is inlaid with turquoise and carnelian.
The bracelet is 9.5 cm in length, 4.8-6.6 cm in diameter, and weighs 159 grams.
Found in Majiayuan cemetery, Tomb M16, the Warring States Period [4th-3rd century BCE]
The bracelet was found in the burial of an approximately 40-year-old man, by his right arm. Due to the placement of the bracelet, it is considered to be an armlet.
Bracelet is said to be closed by a decorative stripe woven to the main part by gold thread. This technique can be seen on the silver cup from the tomb M1 at the Majiayuan cemetery.
The edges of the mug-forming sheet are caught with two strips of gold and sewn to the mug.
If made in the similar way, the bracelet had to be closed (sewn up) on the man’s arm and was intended to be worn permanently.
Besides, given the diameters of a bracelet (4.8-6.6 cm), and that it belonged to a grown man, it seems to be more likely that it was a bracer.
Silver cup M1L: 114, the upper diameter is 6.6 cm, the lower diameter: 6.2 cm, the height: 8.4 cm; weight 64.9 grams
Rolled up a rectangular silver sheet into a cylinder shape, pressed two gold bars at the junction, and sewn with thin gold bars. Bottomless.
