“Glodosy Treasure”, Byzantine jewelry from Ukraine; 7th-8th century

Glodo, an archaeological site at the turn of the 7th – 8th centuries (according to other estimates, 2nd half of the 7th century) on the right bank of the river Sukhoi Tashlyk,South Bug basin, near the village Glodosy (Kirovograd region, Ukraine). The complex of artifacts was accidentally discovered in 1962 by local residents, the place was explored by A. T. Smilenko. In a shallow pit there were buried: the set of ceremonial weapons, horse harness, breast and temple ornaments, dishes and other items made of precious metals (gold 2.58 kg, silver 1.03 kg).
