Gold pectoral from Armavir, Armenia; 5th-4th century BCE [d/b]

Museum of History of Armenia record

“It is shaped like a crescent moon with stylized images of birds around the edges. In the center of the ornament, between the birds, three trees of life are schematically depicted, framed above and below by a narrow border of triangles. Along the lower edge of the decoration is a stripe of lotus flowers and buds. The prototypes of images of trees come from Urartian art and have parallels with the bas-reliefs of Persepolis.”
