Bejeweled cups – Late Antique bowls

Gold bowl in Sarmatian style of decoration (Sarmatian carnelian style) is in the Platar collection. Made of thick gold plate have soldered elements decorated with carnelian, with one hanging ring. This vessel is dated to the 1st century BCE – 1st century CE.

There are three very similar bowls from the Szilágysomlyó treasure, Hungary (2nd part of discovery), now in the Hungarian National Museum. [Description of this treasure and its history >> http://mpov.uw.edu.pl]
Thought to be made in the 1st half of 5th century, they have diameter 10.3 – 12.7 cm.
