Gold fibula-brooch found during the rescue archaeological excavations of the kurgan group in the area of the resort town of Anapa near the village of Vinogradny in 2018.
Dated 2nd-1st century BCE. Dimensions: 3.4 x 2.7 cm
A small oval-shaped brooch is made of thin gold leaf. In the center of the there is an oval inset made of rock crystal bead, most likely reused. Ten “hearts” were filled with dark glass paste. Along the outer edge of the brooch, a twisted wire frame is made.
When this brooch was a clasp, it had a spring mechanism with a needle, similar to the pin of modern badges. For some reason, in ancient times it was decided to convert this fibula into a pendant, the fastening mechanism was removed, and a small ring for hanging was made instead.
