Medallion from Gomphi, Greece, Roman period [d/b]

Gold medallion among the findings from two richly decorated Roman tombs from the ancient city of Gomphi near Mouzaki Karditsa [ancient Thessaly, Greece]. The grave offerings include glass censers, gold plates, gold rings with representations, silver and copper relief vessels as well as iron weapons (swords, spearheads etc.), suggesting that the tombs belonged to the upper social class of the Roman-era city of Gomphi.
