Portrait of Empress Sabina, ca. 130 CE. Stephane diadem with tendril motif [d/b]

Portrait of Empress Sabina, Altes Museum, Berlin

“Probably from Asia Minor (Turkey)Marble, ca. 130 AD. The comparison with coins, physiognomy, hairstyle and diadem allows for the portrait’s identification as Vibia Sabina, wife to Emperor Hadrian. Probably since 128 AD, she bore the official title Augusta, which brought about the setting up of numerous portrait statues.”
