Gold medallion with an image of a woman with a child from Gavar, the capital of Armavir, Armenia. 2nd century BCE.
Made of gold foil is edged with thin wire.
Height: 5.4 cm, width: 4.6 cm, weight: 7.4 g
Aphrodite with Eros or Isis-Demeter with Horus-Harpocrates
“The child is placed near the woman’s right shoulder, between the neck and chest. Her right arm is placed under her chest, she wears a bracelet on her arm, and she holds a flower in her left hand. Her beautifully combed hair, decorated with grape leaves, descends to her shoulders in braids on both sides. On her neck are three rows of beads made of false grains.” [The Gold of Ancient Armenia]
