Gold necklace from the tomb no. 87, Carthaginian necropolis of Monte Luna, Senorbì, Sardinia.
Punic period, 5th-4th century BCE.
Very rich jewel with a “mesh” chain [foxtail chain] made of intertwined gold threads. The pendant is composed of an 8-petal rosette and a sort of granulated acorn. It may have been produced in Magna Graecia, probably by goldsmiths from Taranto.
