Linen shroud, NATIONAL MUSEUM OF IRELAND, inv. no. 1911:442
Man wears a black sash decorated with bright ornaments, typical attire of Isis priestess(!).
“The decoration of the shroud combines both traditional Pharaonic and classical elements. The amuletic collar at the top is flanked by Isis and Nephthys, and the lateral scenes in the lower section include the mummy on a bier, the presentation of the deceased to Osiris, and a range of Egyptian deities. In the center is a figure of the deceased, bearded and wearing Roman dress, but flanked by Egyptian architectural features on which perch two falcons wearing the double crown of Upper Egypt and Lower Egypt.”
